When you take a step back and look at the big picture, the resources tax is really Kevie trying to enjoy the rewards of mining, without sharing any of the risk. He tries to justify it by saying every Australian has a right to enjoy the benefits of the continents resources, but without contributing to the risk or work involved in generating a return. Even if the Lib's didn't or couldn't block this, why would Management of any of the big mining companies seriously contemplate playing ball with Kevie? It's obvious that investment will be taken offshore, and with it jobs and wealth for the Australian worker. The similarities with Labors attack on Telstra are not imaginary....Kevie seems to believe he can fund his mismanagement of public funds by taking over publicly listed companies. Is it any different to theft?
