no-one carved up russia -soviet republics that had once been separate countries WENT BACK to being separate countries ...and it was the USSR itslelf ....not any outside force , that decided this .
Latvia , Estonia and Lithuania for example have spent the vast majority of their long history as quite independant of russia and were only subjugated in recent times .

Odessa is definitely part of Ukraine - Ukrainian geograohicaly , culturally and linguistically .
Ukraine was given (back ) it's independance three decades back .

do some research before you post inaccurate and misleading information .
