Russia isn’t a ‘Great Power’, anymore than Great Britain now is. If Britain tried to reclaim its Empire and ‘Great Power’ status then it would be in for a hard and bitter experience, as it would quickly be disabused of any such notions. And this is what Russia will have to go through.

At one stage Japan was an Empire. These days in may still have a titular Emperor, but there is no Empire. And it is not a ‘Great Power’.

At one stage Rome was a ‘The Worlds Greatest Power’, was a mighty Empire. These days the entity of ‘The Roman Empire’ is a distant memory.

Russia is ‘a gas station with nukes’. It looks very big on the map, but in the population stakes it is dwarfed by the likes of China, India, and the USA. Bangladesh has a bigger population than Russia. In the economic stakes, Russia has a smaller economy than Italy. It is an economic pygmy.
Russia is not a Great Power, though it likes to bark like one.
