No the name came from a staffy we had. The boys wanted a killer dog and I sort of killed that idea by saying he looked like a bear. Hence tubby bear.
Hard to be mean with a name of Tubby.
The boys tried to fatten him up. There was always dog nuts avaliable plus treats. He stayed lean and active throughout his life
