On the subject of liquidity, or lack thereof:
I bought the same number of shares at a set price in MGL in one order in each of 2019, 2020, and 2021.
The '19 purchase took over a month to fill and required several transactions, while the '20 and '21 orders were filled almost immediately and with very few transactions.
During that period, MGL had three annual NPAT results: 776, (1,342), (288), and several updates on Golmud and my purchase prices were 0.027, 0.02 and 0.018. So nothing drove the share price up or down. It was mostly chance that determined when and whether an order could be completed.
If that was the case then, imagine the situation if there was a sudden, or even just a consistent, demand on the buy or sell side. There would undoubtedly be gridlock.
So if the market does eventually decide to Like Magontec, it may be difficult to cash in on your superior stock picking skills.
(And that could be dire if you happen to have MGL in a $3mil Super account and Jim wants your unrealised profit.)
