I still fail to see how the NBN is at all worth it. For $50 you can get naked ADSL2+ with 130gb usage on TPG and others. And this is now, not 8 years from now when this yet to be built infrastructure is completed.
They are already starting to test 4G wireless which will reach 100mbit/sec on people's mobiles. In 5 years this technology will definitely be widespread and the NBN will be obsolete before it is completed. It's hard to see how NBN can be commercial or competitive in an environment like that. Notwithstanding that Australia has such a low and disparate population (which the government doesn't seem to want to grow).
Meanwhile South Korea is upgrading their network from 100mbs to 1Gbs in less than 3 years.
