Cheers and fair enough for that. I was stating something hat i heard yesterday morning on BBC world radio. The thing is that the discovery came from unraveling genetic material, something to do with the Gnome, and the antecessor information was there - just as present as the information was.
And a new species evolved according to that information, which is just out and which may or may not stretch old understandings or break known laws. I wouldn't know Adam from Eve in a dress-coded nightclub when it comes to what 'proof' or 'proven' really is. But this trail lead them to say a new race emerged.
