BDM is acquiring Ekati by means of a cash + shares.
The shares are conditional based on votes at a general meeting which means BDM still has Rule 7.1 shares to apply to the 7,000,000 shares it has to issue to exercise the option in/around April.
It will be interesting to see if BDM pays the $4m and issues the 7m shares to GIB.
In any event, GIB already holds 9m BDM shares so as long as there's good news somewhere then GIB stands to benefit.
