    Walyering construction gets green light

    Walyering gas field.

The environment plan (EP) for construction and commissioning of the Walyering Gas Field has been approved, allowing construction to begin.

Strike Energy – which acts as operator and 55 per cent stakeholder and operator of the joint venture (JV) EP447 – announced that construction and commissioning is estimated to take six weeks.

With both the pipeline license and the EP approved, the final approval required for production is Strike’s safety case, expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.

Talon Energy – who holds the remaining 45 per cent of the JV – and Strike expect production of Walyering gas to begin in April, subject to connection the Parmelia Gas Pipeline, owned by APA.

The upstream facility remains largely on budget, but Strike acknowledges increases in the cost of well completions which, in turn, have increased the scope associated with improving facility reliability and APA’s pipeline connection.

Upstream scope has been estimated at $19.2 million.

A workover rig is currently operating at Walyering-5 and will soon be moved to Walyering-6 to install the production completions.
