I think part of the problem is that there has been disagreement within the company. Those putting out the notices in the past might not have had the same amount of input into the recent announcement (today) and vice versa. People have different opinions of the same event and it doesn't mean either of them are necessarily being dishonest. Some people in the company may have painted an overly ambitious/optimistic picture (which, to be fair, is what many of us were asking them to do with their releases), whereas those writing the release today might be a bit pessimistic (certainly appear to be from my reckoning).
it is pretty obvious that there has been a fair bit of internal politics here and we are yet to find out when these disagreements emerged and what impact they had on what decisions. With people calling an EGM, there's a perfect storm of political fighting and manouvering between board, management and large investors.
Questions I'd like answers on are these:
1. Did the board always have doubts, but JC just pushed on ahead?
2. Who in management is out (other than JC)?
3. Are there any proposals being currently considered by the board for the agreements/mergers/takeovers they are talking about?
4. Does JC now agree with the board and is resigning in the knowledge his approach wasn't working, or is he being pushed out the door still thinking things were on course?
5. What is the logic behind the board pulling the plug and pushing the negatives? Surely even if they thought they'd missed the boat with a big pharma, they'd promote the positives and express confidence in a lesser deal (at worst) being reached. If they are saving all this cash, why not announce they have created time for themselves to strike a deal, and simply raise the possibility that such a delay might not be of the scale once hoped for?
6. Did the big pharma company actually specifically rule out an agreement on ATC, or did they simply fail to meet the demands of Avexa? (be they related to time, finances, whatever). Ie was this an issue of no one wanting ATC under any circumstances, or no one wanting ATC under circumstances set out by AVX?
7. What are the issues surrounding ATC exclusivity in the USA?
8. If the EGM people succeed in throwing Drona out, what then? Will any of the sacked people come back?
