There's the nub of it alright. We have perhaps the most open elections in the world and Labor has been extraordinarily unsuccessful. Have they not had marketable policies? Has their leadership just not appealed to the people? Are the people conservative by nature? In the last 73 years, Labor has held office federally on just around 24 of those years.
