Oh Mr Meerkat, to use an expression from that great tennis player you cannot be serious! Do you make any money on the stock market as your basic understanding of economics and high school physics and I mean year 8 seem to be well rather questionable. I dont know if you are from Holland just a guess looking at the Meer Kat name and god bless you if you are, Van Gogh, hot girls and tulips where would we be without the Dutch? I live and grew up in W.A. and having visited Holland i understand if you are from that lovely but tiny northern kingdom it may be hard to understand how big W.A. is. If that is the case I will explain, its really really really big. And here comes the physics problem, its called voltage drop. The distance from the N.W gas to Perth is like the distance I am guessing from Amsterdam to Madrid. So if we put a power station or three onshore from the gas and ran electrical lines all the way to Perth because of the principle of voltage drop virtually none of the power would reach Perth. Almost nobody lives in the towns near the gas resource and buiding large gas fired plants up there for those guys is uneconomic. However you are misinformed to say we just give it all away. First the stuff that is exported which is most of it is not given away. Last time i checked Woodside Chevron and Shell have not registered as charities, I think it quite likely they are making a huge profit selling this gas. Oh thats right that why this state is absolutely booming I think the gas profits have something to do with it. Next we do use a lot of N.W. gas to generate local power. the Volage drop problem was overcome by building a bloody great pipeline for the gas all the way from the N.W. to Perth gas fired stations. We do desalinated water with it too. As for U.C.G gas being lesser quality well low octane petrol at the bowser is lower quality than high octane but its cheaper. Guess which one I and most other people buy. Yes U.C.G is not fully proven yet in all aspects. Thats why CXY shares are currently 10 cents they are a spec stock. In ten years time they will either be worth 10 dollars each or 2 cents each. Many people find this a risk they are happy to take, you do not which I respect. Its just your post was so full of factual errors as a West Aussie and a believer in U.C.G I had to say something. I hope I wasnt too harsh Im sure you mean well,
