the bank run also happened because in USA anyone can just register for a broker account and buy US treasuries which yield 4-5.5% and is not taxable. I tried to do the same in Aust. Can't do it. You either have to put alot of for a minimum amount of time or be a high networth investor. Which maybe differs from bank to bank. Some need 3 million annual income plus liquid assets of 1 million.
so if the any american investor with 10k to 1-2 million or 10-50 million or more understands there is a reccession coming. UST is a no brainer. cant be taxed upon maturity.
