Approvals don't take too long assuming everything is correct in the documents that are submitted and they aren't in sensitive areas (ie Aboriginal heritage, environment protected areas etc). The things that take time are long lead items that need to be ordered to support the drilling campaign. These items cannot really be ordered until they know what drill is being used and how deep the target is, well design etc. Until the 3D is sorted and all JV parties agree on whats to happen (or TEG do a Tony Abbot captains pick) its just a waiting game.
Beach just had 3 drill holes approved on L11 fairly quickly.
Given L7 has previously been used for oil production, and EP 437 had an approved exploration hole that never went ahead by TEG a few years ago (and I'm assuming the drilling will take place on the same site Wye Knot 1) the environmental approvals shouldn't really be too difficult.
