I am really disinterested in a debate about the merits of making trade (entry and exit) decisions based on charts, but I will say that while there is some truth in what you've said, it doesn't matter. The price is all that matters when it comes to your equity curve (hopefully) going up.

A well rounded trading plan includes at least three attributes to help inform your decision making. There are as many ways to make money in the markets as there are participants, but the thing that the consistently successful speculators have in common is an ability to execute their plans which are informed with key signals of when to be in and when to be out.

I saw a good Tom Basso quote this morning, and to paraphrase it went along the lines that a good strategy should start with your lifestyle. What kind of a strategy would suit your lifestyle? Do you want to have a set and forget system, or do you want to trawl through company announcements and do deep research that way? I like charting because it shows the intent of the market, and I like my money to be moving in harmony of an upwards direction as often as possible.
