there are untold ways in which to get around or minimise any mooted RSPT and they will be exploited if need be.
if krudd thinks he will get $9b then he had better think again. and given that he has based all future budgets on this RSPT then it's clear that he's living in cloud cuckoo land.
horsetrader correctly highlighted one way to minimise any federal govt take-off by selectively mining high grade prior to any RSPT introduction.
i'm bothered that marginal startup mines will be able to be brought into production with the help of the new provisions that will come in along with the RSPT (to encourage new mining - new marginal mining!!!). the taxpayer will be slugged to support mines that shouldn't even see the light of day.
in the meantime any mining company with cash for new projects will look elsewhere - ozl would surely give preference to azure over ph expansion if the $'s stack up.
the RSPT is a very dangerous, very bad tax in its current format - i just hope that australia wakes up to what the downside can be.
kill the RSPT!!
