It's perfectly possible to be unhappy about a decision that you've had to make yourself.
Here's an analogy.
Jesus decided to die for our sins.
Did Jesus want to die? No, he wasn't happy about it.
Could he have recanted his sincere beliefs and avoided being crucified? Yes.
