Alternatively they may have decided to announce this “offer” because it was getting more and more divergent to the then current market price and felt it had now gotten to a point of being worthy of announcement. On that assumption, the more it continues to hold and trade now at these levels the more a future offer of only around $3 becomes less likely to be successful.
