It's all relative – I expect $4m isn't much to someone with IG's net worth. He does seem a bit financially overextended though, especially if the theory that he used ASM shares as collateral for some other investment and was/is getting margin called due to ASM's extreme fall in SP is correct, forcing him to dump some of his ALK holdings into the market. That did a lot of damage to ALK's SP.
As far as the KCF share purchase, it might simply have been a condition of them renegotiating the initial deal.
