If you want to take good night shots you need to have a suitable tripod, manually focus and preferably use a low ISO (400-800)
I don't think the Nikon P900 was around in 1969
So if you were the project director sending people to the moon for the first time - would you have liked to photographically document what the stellar and planetary perspective was like from the moon - keeping in mind that these shots would have been amplified due to the fact that the moon has no atmosphere to speak of?
