Also, I am not so sure that the comments made by mining companies about shelving upcoming projects are all that legit.

I'm sure these companies are looking at their options and the implications of an amended tax regime. However, there is also the politics going on and we don't know what strategies each party (governemnt, mining companies, WA government, overseas governments, federal opposition) are using to support their cause.

I'm not saying i agree with the tax (or disagree, for that matter) simply saying I know the policital games that the big companies play, along with political parties ... we are heading towards a federal election after all...

Mining companies saying "I'm taking my bat and going home..." might just be hot air in some instances.
