I dont think those mines have petroleum licences so they will be very limited in what they can do with the gas.
They must degass the seams before longwall mining. It isn't a choice in any way shape or form to do that or to not do that.
They will be charged much more for cold vented gas, so they will need to flare it, at an emmissions costs anyway. Best case for them is the amount of money savrd by simply letting it get sucked into arrow gathering network and sent to QPM.
