Ok, so i.m gna ask a "stupid question", as I just don't understand something, amd online answers are not really helpful. Hopefully someone here can sort me out.
What I dont understand is, how do short contracts push the price down if no one knows about the contract and if it is not registered on the public register in the same way as buying amd selling is.
For example, let's say I make a contract with one of you lot. Where do we have to register the contract? What details do we have to give? Amd who can see it?
Coz as far as I can tell,.being completely ignorant of what's going on, it seems like... If nobody knows, then it shouldn't have any influence on the price at all. But since it appears to do so, i have to assume that some people know. So then my question is who? And why not everyone immediately, in the same way as buying and selling?
I hope I've asked the question clearly enough. Its not about what shorting is, but rather the inner workings of how it works.
As i said, maybe stupid question, bit i cant understand why shorting has a downward pressure if no one knows about it.
