It can and does happen but not to a stock where shorter are less than 3% of shares out standing. I stand by my statement that shorter do far more to stabilize the market than disrupt it. You can find a few examples where they did not. Do not know stock you are talking about but first question I would ask is why was it so heavily shorted to begin with.
