First Nations issues are rarely centred on archeological sites since there are few in the NWT. Most opposition from the Yellowknife Dene come from water use and spoilage and caribou disturbance. There is water everywhere basically and the Bathurst herd occupies this area at least occasionally although Hidden Lake is very close to the highway and the access to the Ice Road so hunters have likely taken most Caribou from this area and or they don't frequent it for the same reasons. My advice is just to be mindful that permitting and environmental approvals can take an inordinately long time in the NWT and many companies have been frustrated by the process. For their part the Yellowknife Dene have good reason to be be less then friendly to mining since their home settlements were greatly affected by the Giant mine in Yellowknife which is still one of the largest store of arsenic trioxide on the planet.
