That line of thought & comparison concerning global reactions to international expansions by Julius's Romans, Alex's Greeks, Attila's Huns, Genghis's Moghuls, and various USA invaders has always intrigued me also. Why so different here? The outcomes elsewhere just seemed to involve natural and peaceful integration into a single peoples and attitude, except maybe for the Irish?
