Hi reversepsych, I wont go into the accuracy or DRE’s results/progress timelines…other than to say it’s a valid concern, and no doubt a hot topic for all.
Personally I would prefer those timelines be removed from announcements….and be replaced with more generalised statement of upcoming work…at least until things are back on track with assay turn around times.

But just in relation to the laboratory tracking systems (in general), in most cases these will allow the company to track the current status (i.e. what stage of the analysis workflow), some systems will also provide preliminary results….But this doesn’t necessarily translate into an accurate ETA for when assays are reported by the lab.

Keep in mind, companies will generally only release the finalised (lab approved) results in ASX announcements, this means that all samples in a given batch/job need to be finalised and certified by the lab.
There are a variety of reasons why individual samples may fail at different stages (prep, digest, instrument etc), this means they need to be re-run. So, in practice you can (and do) get situations where the vast majority of samples (of a given batch/job) are finalised but the ‘results’ wont be released by the lab....and therefore additional delays.I’ve known situations where a single sample fails multiple times and needs to be re-run, causing lengthy delays for the entire job...unfortunately this cant be predicted.So, my point is yes these systems are a great innovation for tracking and batch management, but this does not necessarily translate to large improvements in forecasting result timelines.
