Titled "Why Thermal Energy Storage is the overlooked solution to Australia's renewable energy problems" it discusses the need for Thermal Energy Storage to be used in conjunction with solar panel installations; something that is conveniently omitted when politicians talk up solar! Thermal Energy Storage is needed because of massive variations in demand from the grid and because the sun doesn't shine at night!
The source of the information is the CSIRO no less.
It's clear from the article that Thermal Energy Storage will add a significant cost overlay to energy from solar panels, and accordingly cheap solar energy becomes not so cheap!
24/7 Geothermal energy doesn't have these problems!
GRV is the only company in Australia currently pursuing a geothermal strategy.
The market will catch up!
