When Labor left office the nett debt was $275 and the forward estimate was out to $500 billion and that was an underestimate taking into account the underestimation of many projects including the NDIS. The budget was getting back to balance when covid hit and our debt would have blown out more under Labor as they said many times when in opposition they would have spent much more on covid measures.
