It seems to me there are some clever games being played with EXT SP and the pattern has shifted from earlier days. Previously, we saw the SP pushed down early on and then, as the day progresses, the SP moves up and finishes in the green with a bang. These days it is completely the other way round. We have a good morning (look at today and many of the days in the last week) but the gains slowly disappear and often end in the red.
Is it clever traders who push it up and then take their profits? I dont know but you could almost set your watch by it at the moment!
