my guess is there might be a buyout offer and the buyer is doing everything they can to keep the sp low to make the lowball offer looks attractive.
Buyer: I will offer you $1.54/share!
Hopper: that's low!
Buyer: look at your sp, I am paying you 1000% more! Take it or leave it.
