The recent article from Politico does a nice job and summarising the situation in Europe. Environmental protection will still be stringent, but European competitiveness is now seen as crucial.

The new CRMA/NZIA regulation will see permitting streamlined for strategic projects, so as long as companies show evidence that they are able to mitigate the impact on the environment, then I believe both environmental/Natura 2000 and the emerging green industry can be compatible. Talga's environmental/Natura 2000 permit approval is an example of what we should expect.

In terms of timelines, these new regulations will no doubt help but it's not a secret that gigafactories are easier to bring online when compared to advanced materials/mining. ACC are still building their factories and have a strong drive to source from Europe. You only need to look at their CEO's strong comments regarding China and supply chain risks to see this. So whether or not there are delays between the two companies, I don't think it will matter too much when you consider that Talga are far ahead of the competition in Europe. As far as I know, Talga's timeline is the closest to ACC's in Europe - so if not Talga, who?
