Have a look at every capital raising you like .

The brokers want it for a song for their investors ,who then dump it back onto the market .keeping the share price down for ages .

Not only that, cap raisings can take 6 weeks to a couple of months to complete ,and the share price will be suppressed all that time as well .



Capital raisings to loyal investors sounds great in theory ,but in practise do more damage than a placement ,and for a considerable amount of time .

This placement was all about gaining access to Hong Kong ,and was a good example of prudent risk management from management .
The plan B has been put in motion ,and this backs Xstrata into a tight corner now .Better to have a plan B organised just in case .

This was great strategy from management in my opinion .
