Possibly worth digging a little deeper … what quantity of lithium do those contracts allow to be extracted and sold?
There was once a Merchant who lived in Venice who had a contract - but when interpreted at its most strict level it turned out to not be as beneficial a contract as that merchant thought it was. Devil could be in the detail here.
I noticed that in that interview the CEO of ALB noted that their contracts were in place for that time and they saw the announcement as an opportunity to obtain further extraction rights in the country - hmmm - detail maybe …
I feel that this changing dynamic in Chile will send ripples of concern through the lithium supply chains which can only benefit supplies in locations with more stable political systems - hello Australia.
