For most of history parents and the community have kept the depraved and mentally ill away from children.. ....... thats an interesting conflation of two very different pathological processes bacci.
the depraved are not necessarily mentally ill, just as those mentally ill rarely are involved in depraved activities.
but you're wrong either way as those with mental illness were only begun to be isolated from the rest of the community in the 18th C. prior to that people with psychosis were able to live at home and wander the streets fairly easily. certainly some fell victims to depraved people as psychotic people tend to be fairly easily led by unscrupulous manipulators (as depraved people tend to be).
