Granted, however someone with a lot to lose will likely make a much greater effort.

I have found over the years that certain people always take a negative view on spec stocks such as ICG and when they fail they make big of how they predicted it would happen.
The thing is that 95% of mining spec stocks will fail and if you always say they will then you are correct 95% of the time.
It does not make you clever because you predicted it, it simply means that you cannot pick the 5% of winners.
