Thanks all - I have investigated further and it the situation is not ideal.
I received approx $3.3k in distributions from the fund paid to me however the tax information sent to the ATO from registry for pre fill purposes has an attributable income of $9.8k. I have confirmed this info is correct I therefore have to pay tax on the $9.8k despite only receiving the $3.5k paid to me / reinvested in additional units. We're not talking big numbers here but it did effect my expected tax refund. Just something to be be wary of.... You do get to add the attributed income (in my case 6.5k) to cost base for CGT purposes though, so it does eventually even out.
I have held this since start of Covid when Oil price was particularly volatile and have made good returns, but wasn't aware that taxation could be applied in this manner.
Cheers
