I'll admit it fron the outset, I follow league.

I find this disappointing. First as a league fan, but also for the afl juniors or even senior players who must be wondering what is going on. A guy who has never played the game is now the highest paid player. Same with Carmichael Hunt. A marketing ploy no doubt but it might just backfire in the home state of Vic. If Gary Ablett came across to League as a half back on 1.4 million a year people would be cheesed off. Israel gets 4.2 for three years.

At the same time I can't blame him for taking the money. If it doesn't work out in afl for him he can come back or retire.
