Sometimes this stereo-type plays out, other times it's the other way around - whichever way, the person with less risk tolerance is discouraging the person with more risk tolerance from investing.

Why? Because a falling share price makes humans feel bad (in general) and they get stressed and start throwing their fears around. They don't buy, they sell, they capitulate.

AFAIC volatility is the price we pay for outsized returns and when the science says it works and the market research says it's worth Billions and Billions, and the share price goes down ... my brain says "we had better start preparing for some massive returns!"

I've heard it put forward that because traditionally mothers were bound to close care of young humans through 4+ years of breast feeding and nurturing, that evolution selected for those who were more risk aware and diligent about acting on it leading to an increase in the gene expression of risk intolerance in the female population and therefore (an in-general) lower risk tolerance exhibited by females. However, it can be the other way around and the above theory put forward by someone else could be just wrong.

Getting in early ... Happy Mothers' Day for the next 9 days!
