''I'm not saying DNA considers needs, rather it is reactive to change and an increase in specific parts of the DNA mutation rate occurs when an organism somehow reads the change down to its molecular level.''
Evolution is clearly an interaction between genes/biology and environment but there is no reason to suppose outside guidance or interference. The mechanisms of adaption/evolution appear to be self sustaining where if a trait or mutation isn't adaptive, the organism suffers the consequences.
''Extinction has nothing to do with it, change often exceeds the capacity to adapt.''
Extinction is the failure to adapt to changing conditions fast enough, where some species may go into decline while other thrive in their place. Mother Nature is a harsh Mistress who plays no favorites.
