    cheers Wang.... I agree, but it is what it is. I can't really form an opinion as I didn't watch any of the coronation stuff. but certainly I agree.

    the "Australian" perspective though is very diverse. back in the '60s the TV told us the average Australian was a drunken sexist smoker down at the beach ogling all the girls and wolf whistling. being among that crowd, as so many were in those days, it was hard to see otherwise.

    in the '80s it was much more urbane, and in the early 2000s the feminists took over as statistics proved the average Aussie was a woman..... I was delighted to read that as it meant to me that we were growing up collectively.

    in '69 one of my fave songwriters, Leonard Cohen wrote that he is "waiting for the women to take over.... we men have had it all our way and look at the mess we've made" yep, thats a quote.

    an Australian perspective today is much more than could be fitted into a 1 hr social doco. it includes Aboriginal people at the start. its about time.
