what this country needs

OK, we've all had a go at Rudd and we've all seen where things went wrong. Now can we come up with a list of things that can change this country for the better, add value to existing products, keep some money in our own economy and goods that we can export to the rest of the world and also trying to look after the environment of this great country. And I don't necessarily mean big got projects but probably more community oriented projects which seem to suffer because the govt has programs upon programs that impinge on society and which society starts to take for granted:

I think one area would be guidelines for building fire proof buildings next to town halls or suitable areas in the bush. A few people can give a few days of their skill to building every now and again or something like that. And make them so they last 200 years like buildings used to. Timbercrete is a value adding building product that is fire resistant and is used sawdust with cellulose added and made into bricks.

Maybe our miners could be making our money with precious and base metals and having it as legal currency. A bit of competition from different miners would see the prices become more competitive. I haven't thought that one out too well but who knows. Might have to limit the actual miners currency based on GDP, inflation or something like that but it would be good to get some of the paper out of the market and the actual people of the country gets to hold on to its wealth instead of it being taxed and given to the govt.

I really think the money system has to be changed so banks aren't continually inflating bubbles with their privileged lending from the RBA.

I am optimistic about the ingenuity in Australia but our govt, and I mean both sides don't seem to have that same flair or actual have a clue of the great products and new technologies that are available in Australia. I'm really hoping some of our geothermal, underground coal gasification projects are successful as well as products like Dyesol and hopefully Eden Energy, ESI with Matmor (I think that's ESI) can get their projects up and running. good to see coal seam gas adding to the resources available already. Some of our medical tech is great too and I hope this latest market crash doesn't see the big multinationals taking them away from us for a song, though that seems to be the way of things if they have half a clue.

It's late so that's all I've got so far, anyway have a go you mugs, if the Sharkies can beat Roosters 42-18 anything is possible lol... :-)
