it's worth noting that while the main construction was completed in 80 AD, modifications and enhancements continued under Emperor Domitian, another son of Vespasian, until about 96 AD. These enhancements included the addition of the hypogeum, a series of underground tunnels and rooms that housed animals and gladiators before the fights. So, while the Colosseum was operational and open to spectators in 80 AD, it wasn't fully completed in the form we recognize today until a bit later. Much like RSH...LOL
