A Gov agency would much rather have a fleet of say X100 $250 Zoleos (~$25k outlay) than X100 $1400 iPhone 14-16 (~$140k outlay) , Zoleo's have much longer use life, lower depreciation cost, lower entrance cost and lower integration complexity. As we know Beam has its own API support that allow for fleet management features like tracking than try to rely on iPhones of various generations and spotty coverage plus complexities of sharing/privacy permissions (i.e. users may use for combined personal and work use).

This question regarding device specialization vs generalist approach of a 'do all device' is an interesting one. Pundits used to say that the era of digital cameras was finished and that they were all going to become obsolete since early 2000s, however the camera market has been quite healthy and as a photographer myself I can say that it has only gotten better and better.

Never would I have imagined that one could buy a Digital Medium Format camera for ~$3-6k (depending on the spec), they used to be slow and specialised pieces of equipment with steep entrance of $25-100k for the body alone. And any buffoon that would tell you that 'sensor size does not matter' and that they can get 'professional output' from their phone has never worked as a commercial photographer, its not even close - just like a dedicated Sat Comm Device vs Phone.
