Radio overall is dropping like a stone; but I think ABC stations have a national advantage in reaching high-income demographics. They would steal a LOT of big advertisers. That would destroy the commercials, so don't pretend that they would shake it off.
Right now Commercial FM is on razor thin margins, with underpaid commercial radio personnel having to uber to stay alive.
From the cancer that is the Caralis network underpaying and the loss of market share, the last thing they would need is for a massively established brand to offer sponsorship opportunities at a National level.
As media stocks plummet, don't go wishing the government would turn loose a radio behemoth into the faltering world of commercial radio.
