S8,nikk0, actually did succeed with Alan Carr's book many years back...read the short version..."easy way to stop smoking'. Took me a few goes to get into it, but it worked.
Could go down the pub with people blowing smoke in your face, didnt tempt me. Didnt eat sweets or between meals.
Nicotine obviously has an effect on metabolism.
That book was a perfect brainwashing tool....
Then my weight went up to over 18 stone...and decided the only way out was to smoke again, did, and got hooked again.
My doctor reckoned that was crazy. I agree, I am. Sadly, as Carr tells you..that book only worked ONCE. He then wrote a longer version for those who relapsed... "The Only way to stop..."
Thicker than "War & Peace", never managed to get really into it....yet.
Tried Zyban......went crazy. Went to try Champix...wife wouldnt let me after the Zyban episode.
    Tried hypnosis.....that failed.

I KNOW, from the success of Carr's book the first time....it is 98% in your brain..the habit....the nicotine addiction is really nothing....just the habit.
just a question of Psyching (brainwashing) yourself the right way and at the right time. When all your investments are down is NOT a good time.

Thinking of going bush where I wont attack anyone & trying it there .....6 months, I reckon, lol.
