Well, if you look at the a shorter timeframe, we have shorts that have gone up from 3% (March 9) to 6% (May 5). Basically 100M shorted shares.
Highest price in that time period was around 4.26 but average looks around 3.80s (so at least 25% paper losses). That's a lot of shorts under water. Not sure what catalyst they are waiting on to close out but I can see the catalyst for hitting that 2.618 extension at around 5.30.
