I've been following this closely over the past days, and I think a good comparison is with OBJ. OBJ is also trying to bring in a big partner in 3m and when the 'extension' was announced it was smashed.

Now I know they are different companies but both are rife with speculations and what-if's?

Speculation is sometimes better than the fact itself - because the fact is fact and known, whether positive/neutral or negative. Speculation of something can drive the price.
