High end consumer spending intention is interesting. This would be much more weighted to consumer discretionary category and then subcategories within that. I'm seeing a lot more promotions and sales in men's clothing, electronics and homewares categories.
Promotions are needed to entice spending from consumers, but eventually it will turn to lower sales and then lower production by the suppliers.
The slowdown is coming, for sure.
I'm not that familiar with seasonality of consumer spending in the northern hemisphere (Europe and USA) but surely there are some indicators available from the summer time there that will be markers for the global economy.
(Is Northern hemisphere Summer typically a higher period for spending and travel, or is it toward the end of the year around Black Friday and Xmas holidays?)
