The interests of the shareholders and the company are shared on many axes.
Gimme implied that communicating with shareholders is not an obligation a director has. While surely not a legal obligation, it is also not a CFOs legal obligation to write financial reports in such a way that the owner of a company can understand them.
However, the owner of a company would be well advised to choose a CFO who takes it upon themselves to communicate well the financial state of the company.
